studioRIFF is the experiential design studio of HLGstudio, an Atlanta- and Nashville-based interior architecture and design firm. We specialize in environmental graphics, wayfinding, placemaking, art curation, signage, interactive features, branding & identity, and connecting brand stories to physical spaces. Working in close partnership with HLGstudio’s interior design practice, we help clients create memorable, purposeful environments that reflect their culture and support how people actually use space.

Role Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Graphic Designer to support the studioRIFF team on environmental graphics, branding, and experiential design projects. This is a hands-on role ideal for a recent graduate or early-career designer who wants to develop strong skills in applying graphic design to the built environment. You will work alongside senior designers and interior architects on a mix of corporate, workplace, healthcare, and hospitality projects.

Responsibilities for the Graphic Designer include:

  • Support the creation of environmental graphic design packages, including wayfinding systems, wall graphics, dimensional signage concepts, and branded environmental elements

  • Assist with brand identity applications for physical spaces (color, typography, pattern, iconography)

  • Prepare presentation materials, concept boards, and client deliverables

  • Produce production-ready artwork and coordinate with fabricators/vendors under senior designer guidance

  • Maintain organized project files and contribute to studio standards and templates

  • Participate in design critiques, client presentations (as appropriate), and internal coordination meetings with the broader HLGstudio team

  • Conduct visual research and help build project mood boards and reference libraries

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a closely related field (or equivalent portfolio experience)

  • Strong foundational skills in typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop required; After Effects a plus)

  • Portfolio demonstrating clean, thoughtful design work (student, internship, or freelance work accepted)

  • Ability to take direction, iterate quickly, and work collaboratively in a studio environment

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Genuine interest in environmental graphics, experiential design, or branding in the built environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience related to environmental graphics, wayfinding, or spatial branding

  • Familiarity with 3D software (SketchUp, Rhino, or similar) or basic understanding of architectural drawings

  • Experience preparing files for large-format production or working with fabricators

  • Interest in workplace, healthcare, or hospitality environments
