With heavy competition among ambulatory surgery centers in the Atlanta market, the long-awaited Northside Hospital Midtown Ambulatory Surgery Center was completed in 2021. This 24,000 SF, first generation space includes an inviting reception/waiting area, individual pre-operation rooms, 4 extended recovery rooms, as well as a 14 bay PACU suite to service the facility’s state-of-the-art operating/procedure rooms.
The design incorporated COVID considerations for patients and staff alike. However, the Client requested the space present an upscale and modern feel. While still addressing the need for durable and cleanable finish materials, the design directive was achieved. The waiting room incorporated seating solutions that allowed for ease of rearrangement within defined spaces. The provision for patient separation and privacy was achieved by incorporating decorative tile/glass room dividers. To add warmth to what can be an intimidating clinical environment, wood look LVT flooring and impact resistant headwall systems were utilized. Soft blue accents were introduced in the furniture and paint selections to provide a sense of calm.
