After 10 years in their space, this large commercial construction company realized that their corporate footprint no longer supported their current needs regarding work process, technology and culture. The challenge was to create a space that supports their unique phasing for work flow, their commitment to their employees' health and well-being, while conveying the quality of their brand through the workplace experience of art, design and technology.
The overall design concept creates a plan that supports the unique phasing of their teams' workflow and encourages flexibility and movement within the space. Technology and art are seamlessly integrated into the design to communicate a quality experience for both employees and visitors. To showcase their capabilities as a construction company, great thought went into the raw, yet refined approach to materiality, detailing and lighting integration.
A LEED Platinum project that is currently under submission for Well Building Certification, the space creates a healthy environment by welcoming abundant natural light, the use of sit/stand desks, and a communicating stair that connects the main social cafe to the work environment on all three levels.
Views were maximized to take advantage of the Atlanta skyline to the south, Vining’s mountain to the west and the balance of Cobb Counties blend of tree canopies and urban environment to the northeast.
Art is integrated throughout, including a commissioned piece that connects a two floor volume of space. A large scale training room provides a surprisingly intimate experience by properly addressing acoustics and providing users with cutting edge technology to collaborate seamlessly with other offices and construction sites around the country.
When HLGstudio expanded into new space , our primary goal was to design an organic microcosm of our firm's principles and philosophy.
As designers and thought leaders we wanted to be welcomed every day into a space that was open, expansive, and playful. We needed spaces that would spark creativity for both large teams and small groups. The results have been stellar—a great majority of our walls are white boards that are visible to every person who may pass by, visual invitations for shared comments and critiques. Break out areas for conversation and informal meetings are designed everywhere—different seating heights in the library allow casual get-togethers, an outdoor patio encourages fresh air breaks, and, as always, food service and relaxation areas attract lively conversation and spirited celebrations.
Our new offices are highly agile idea laboratories. We are a true studio environment—integrating ideas in a non-hierarchical space, promoting freedom of expression, imagination, knowledge, mentorship, communication and passion.

As venture capitalists investing in start-up businesses, the Silicon Valley Bank team wanted their space in Atlanta to reflect that of their client base – fresh, fun and hip. Attraction and retention of young talent was also on their minds. In order to make the most of their footprint, HLGstudio utilized an open floor plan, so that the space could also function as a great place to entertain. Cutting edge appliances, sleek materials and modern lighting all contribute to the experience. Textured upholstery fabrics, warm woods and a resi-mercial feel make the space an inviting place to work or visit.
“You have imagined this beautiful office, and in the process gave us a new home. Thank you for your vision, your passion and your skill. We are truly thankful.”

The Lobby and C-Suite renovation updates the arrival point for visitors to the Dallas World Headquarters and incorporates a branding timeline, showcasing the rich history of Kimberly-Clark. An undulating ceiling offers a subtle reference to the company's folded Kleenex products and provides a mirror for the flooring, which serves as a tool for way finding.
